Get your MAC Code
If you already have a broadband service and want to switch your broadband provider then you'll need a MAC code (if you want your supply not to be interuppted during the switchover). Your current broadband provider can supply this to you but you'll need to give them a call. They may offer you a special deal to stay on, but if you want to switch (and provided that you're not still in a contract period) then they can't stand in your way. You should receive your code within a few days at which point you can start the switch to a new provider; the code is valid for 30 days so if you leave it any longer then you'll need to request a new one.
What to do next
1. Give you current broadband provider a call and ask for your MAC code (a 17-18 digit code made up of numbers and letters)
2. When you've got your code come back to Digital Choices and find the broadband package that you want to switch to
3. Follow the instructions on-screen on the supplier's site and enter your MAC code when prompted.

Common Questions
Should I tell my current broadband provider that I want to cancel?
No. When you request your MAC (Migration Authorisation Code) they'll know why you want it; there's no need to ask to cancel. It can take a few days for you to receive your code and the switch may take a couple of weeks so don't cancel your service or you may be disconnected for a period of time before the new supplier takes over.
Will my broadband be disconnected?
No. Using your MAC code means you shouldn't have any period without service when the switchover occurs. You will need to apply the settings for your new provider to your router (and restart it) when advised.
Can I keep my current email address?
That depends. If you use a webmail provider like Gmail, Yahoo or msn Live (hotmail) then you can carry on as before. It makes sense to have such an account to make broadband switches easier in future so consider getting one (they are typically free or available at low cost depending on your needs). If your email account was given to you by your current broadband supplier then you'll most likely lose this when you switch over. When you request your MAC code you should ask what steps you should take. Bear in mind that any sites you are registered with (using your current email address) such as banking, social media and others will need to be updated to a new email address before your current service stops.
How and when will I know when the switchover has been completed?
Your new supplier will advise you either by letter or email. Make a note of what they advise during the signup process and keep a copy of any details your are given in a safe place as they may contain details for your new username and password.
